Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

“Our Story” or “the developer” refers to the developer of the Our Story: Couple Journal app. No company or separate legal entity is represented by this policy.

2. Information the app handles

To provide the journal, the app handles information you provide or create in the app, including:

• your first name and anonymous Firebase user ID;
• couple membership and pairing information;
• photos captured for Daily Moments;
• optional personal notes and shared “About Today” text;
• Daily Moment metadata, reveal state, and other app-functionality metadata.

The app does not collect precise location.

3. Camera permission

The camera is used only to capture your daily photo for a Daily Moment. The app does not import photos from your photo gallery.

4. Photos and journal content

Photos are stored privately using Supabase. There is no public photo bucket. Access to couple photo content is authorized for the authenticated couple. The app also keeps a partner’s contribution intentionally hidden at the app layer until both partners submit and the page is revealed. This describes the app’s intended behavior and is not a guarantee that no technical issue can occur.

5. Firebase

Google Firebase Authentication provides anonymous sign-in, and Firestore stores information needed for the app such as the anonymous user ID, first name, couple membership, Daily Moment metadata, notes, shared text, reveal state, and related functionality data.

6. Supabase

Supabase is used to store private photo files. Photos are loaded through private or signed access for app functionality.

7. How information is used

Information is used only to provide app functionality, sync the shared journal, store and retrieve photos, maintain the couple relationship, and handle account deletion and security.

8. Sharing

Personal data is not sold. It is not shared for advertising, and the app does not use tracking in Version 1. Google Firebase and Supabase process data as needed to provide their services and operate the app. The app has no ads, subscriptions, or payments in Version 1.

9. Data retention

Information is kept while it is needed for your account and app functionality. You can request removal through the in-app account deletion flow described below.

10. Account deletion

You can delete your account inside the app. Deletion removes the requesting user’s account, profile, photos, personal contributions, notes, and any reactions or reveal markers associated with that user when present. Your partner’s account and partner-owned content remain. Shared history may become one-sided where appropriate. Deletion does not delete your partner’s account.

11. Children’s privacy

Our Story is not specifically directed to children. We do not make a separate age-eligibility or legal-compliance claim here.

12. Security

Reasonable technical safeguards are used to help protect information, including transmitting data using HTTPS/TLS and restricting photo access through private access mechanisms. No method of transmission or storage can be described as perfectly secure.

13. International processing

Google Firebase and Supabase may process or store information in countries other than the one where you live, depending on their services and infrastructure.

14. Your choices and rights

15. Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated as the app changes. The current version will be posted on this page with its effective date.
